Hypnotherapy Can Change Life-long Patterns

Patterns that people have been dealing with all their lives can be altered by hypnotherapy, according to one practitioner.

Cognitive hypnotherapist Kirsty Hanly wrote on her Huff Post Lifestyle blog that many habits are formed from comments heard during childhood that the unconscious mind stores away.

Ms Hanly suggested problems such as drinking too much, struggling in careers or overeating can have their roots in such memories, but if people can find a hypnotherapist that can tap into these recollections, then overcoming obstacles can be easier.

In a New Year's message, she said: "I wish you success in creating the life you want for yourself in 2012. Just remember to note and praise yourself for each step forward, to try to learn from any slip-ups - but don't over focus on them, and have fun on the journey."

While hypnotherapy tends to be used to combat common issues such as smoking, there are also plenty of special cases where a person suffers from a very particular fear. The Goole Courier described how a hypnotherapist helped a young woman overcome a phobia of pineapples, cheesecake and strawberries.

Louise Jackson told the local newspaper that she managed to start turning her life around after just one session with her therapist, who talked her through her fears.
