Full Accreditation Criteria
On this page we give further details of the Society's required criteria for course accreditation.
Whilst the National Hypnotherapy Society expects course providers to meet the minimum criteria set out below and will endeavour to exercise reasonable monitoring and assessment procedures. The Society cannot accept responsibility for those courses that may fail to do so.
Establishment of Course
Normally one set of students should have graduated from the course and the Course Provider should have obtained feedback from the students and implemented any relevant changes into the course structure.
Insurance and Financial Responsibility
Course providers should be professionally insured and the Society may request evidence of financial responsibility (to ensure the course does not collapse and leave students 'high and dry').
Prospectus
Course prospectus to contain full information regarding the qualification and background of course instructors, content of the course, admissions criteria, admissions procedure (including personal interview) and total costs (including any fees due for supervision and personal therapy).
Staff
A minimum of two core members of staff who shall be held responsible for the course content and accreditation procedures. Such members of staff must be professional grade members or above (MHS) and one should normally be MHS(Acc) or equivalent. We request that you encourage all of your staff to apply to join the Society.
Any course which ceases to have two core members who are HS members automatically ceases to be accredited by the Society.
Inspections
The Society may, at its discretion, request to send a Society Officer to attend elements of a Training course and to talk with the students about their experience of that course.

By continual assessment of course work, feedback, personal and written assessment and / or examination.
Approved courses criteria
Courses which, in the opinion of the Society, have merit as training for hypnotherapists, but fall short of the criteria for Accreditation. Approval means that the Society recognises that the course has merit but does not feel that the course automatically qualifies its students to become hypnotherapists.
