What Can I Expect From a Hypnotherapy Course?
In this section you will find details of the different Training Schools whose courses are either approved or accredited by the National Hypnotherapy Society.
- An Advanced Accredited course fulfills all the requirements of Accredited Membership and offers advanced knowledge and practical skills to the experienced practitioner.
- An Accredited Course fulfils all the requirements of Accredited Membership (MHS Acc) for graduates from that course.
- An Approved Course can contribute towards Professional Membership (MHS) initially with the opportunity to upgrade to Accredited Membership (MHS Acc) if you choose to do so.
Some schools teach hypnotherapy alongside counselling and psychotherapy and the Society’s policy approves of this.
How We Assess Each Course
All of the courses accredited or approved by the National Hypnotherapy Society have to adhere to a strict set of criteria to ensure quality of training.
Please be aware that when we accept training schools for membership we accredit or approve each individual course that they offer.
We have named the courses that the Society has accredited/approved in the information for each training school.
There are a selection of different training schools and courses listed that have been assessed and in the opinion of the Society the training offered is safe, ethical and delivered in a competent fashion.
We advise potential students to take as much care in choosing their course as they would in choosing an individual therapist. Ensure the ethos and philosophy of the training organisation is right for you; don’t be afraid to ask questions and certainly look at as many courses as possible before making a choice.
The contact details and website links are provided and we advise that you take time to read through all the information about both the training school and the courses you are interested in.
Practical issues that you may want to consider are:
- What is the time commitment?
- Do you want to study full time or part time?
- Your budget — and payment options available
- What qualification will you get at the end of the course?
Please be aware that the Society cannot recommend one course over another.
