About Me

I would want to know something about the person I was going to work with if I was looking for any sort of therapist so, I'm going to start with some information about me.  I’m 51 years old, I have a partner, 3 kids and 3 dogs, yes, 3 of each! Up until a few years ago I was a full-time lawyer, having been working for 25 years as Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives running personal injury files.   I decided to change my life, in truth I had been thinking about it for several years but the thought of being out of my comfort zone panicked me enough to stop me taking the plunge for some time.

I’d had enough of working in the law and wanted to pursue something I’d always been interested in, mental health.  So, I am now a qualified Hypnotherapist  and Counsellor  both of which I  practice with enthusiasm and excitement.

I work from home to keep my costs down.  I worked for 6 months in the Liverpool Light Crisis Cafe in Liverpool and was a  front-line crisis support worker  dealing with people who really were in crisis, of all ages.  Some are brought in my police triage cars, others are referred by mental health support centres or the hospital A&E Departments and some simply walk in off the street. These souls have a range of mental health issues ranging from personality disorders, O.C.D, Psychosis, Schizophrenia, depression, anxiety or addictions or they hear voices, or, as I’ve experienced, suffer with several or more of the above which makes life even harder for them. My counselling skills were truly put to the test and I gained great personal as well as professional satisfaction from lifting people from rock bottom and putting them in a much better place.

I am also a volunteer counsellor with Place2be working with primary school children in the Merseyside area.

So, why hypnotherapy? .... Because I love the way Hypnotherapy changes lives for the better. I want to make a difference to people who are looking to make changes whether it be weight loss, stopping smoking, phobia's or other irrational fears, anger management, public speaking, driving test or exam nerves, It could be something as simple as wanting to be able to concentrate more and be more focused on goals. There is nothing that hypnotherapy cannot help with.

Small changes are the best sometimes, for example, rather than try and stop yourself eating anything that is bad, just try and eat healthier say 5 nights out of 7 but do not beat yourself up over a pizza or a takeaway one night a week. If you deny yourself totally, this leads to misery and a higher chance of failing to make the changes you want to make.

I have a particular interest in stress and anxiety and what it does to the body and the mind. Some stress is good for us, it's what gets us out of bed and focused in the morning but too much stress affects a persons physical as well as mental health. A large percentage of the population suffer with chronic stress or anxiety. Stress is our bodies natural reaction to fear and change. Our subconscious, which is responsible for our survival, sends us into fight or flight mode when it perceives a threat to us. Unfortunately, it does not differentiate between genuine life-threatening danger and every day occurrences such as a meeting with the boss or being late for work.

Symptoms of stress are:
- not sleeping well
- gaining weight, especially around the abdomen even when eating well and exercising
- more prone to infections and colds
- increased backaches, neckaches and headaches
- gut/digestion issues
- mood swings, anxiety and depression
- lack of libido

The good news is that stress and anxiety are easily treatable with hypnotherapy. You will be taught relaxation techniques and coping strategies to really make a difference to your day to day life, both personally and professionally.

Hypnotherapy sessions (approx 60 minutes) £ 60.00 Stopping Smoking (2 sessions 1 hour each) £ 150.00 I am happy to do home visits at no extra cost.
